Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group
Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
